1) False. Most people with AS are employed and support themselves. They gravitate toward fields that require a minimum of social interactions. The AS population include artists and musicians, computer engineers, medical health professionals, teachers and some very articulate writers.

2) False. People with AS have friends but in a different way. As children, they tend to have a single friend, often a few years younger. As adults, they tend to have functional friends or friends that they do activities with. For example, they may join a biking or hiking group, but not interact with the group outside these functions.
